During a recording session for our next CD on 16th July 2008, the choir chairman along with the musical directors of our choir and the Morriston Ladies choir and officers made a presentation of a cheque to representatives of the Diabetes UK Swansea. It was the proceeds of the joint concert held on  29th February 2008 at Tabernacle Chapel Morriston.

The choir is now in recess until August 27th,on their return the will be preparing for their next appearance on Sunday 14th September at 2.0pm at the Water Front Museum, as part of a full day of events arranged.

Saturday 5th July, 2008.  Ysgol Gyfun, Ystalyfera.

Although the weather was horrendous, it failed to deter the capacity crowd from attending an outstanding concert in aid of "Capel Y Wern" restoration fund.

Along with the Rugby Choir, there was Ynyscedwyn Primary School Choir who were exceptional, ably backed by their two young soloist Carys James and Euros Morgan.  The guest soloist for the evening were Huw Roberts and Naomi Jenkins.  Our musical director on the night was Glyn Williams with D. Huw Rees as accompanist.

As usual Hywel Lewis our compare, once again performed his duties with his usual humour and expertise which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.  It was an evening that will be remembered for many a year to come, with the sum of well over £1000.00 being raised for the project.

Out with a blaze of glory.

The concert at Hermon Chapel, Fishguard on Saturday 21st June, 2008, was the final event in the current phase of Artswave, Wales.

What an evening it was! a feast of entertainment, thoroughly enjoyed by all, even the horrendous weather failed to keep the capacity audience away.

A variety of artists, namely Dyfed Choir, Lee Mottram, (clarinet), Euphor Quartet, Catrin Aur (soprano), Claire Jones (harpist), and last but not least our choir with D. Huw Rees and Hywel Evans gave a 110% performance.

Saturday Morning June 14th saw the choir, performing at the wedding of Lynne Elizabeth Gabrial and Mark James Walker, which took place at St Paul's Church , Sketty, Swansea. We the choir wish you both all the health, wealth and happiness in the years ahead.

"A Musical Evening "

On Friday 6th June, the choir were invited to join Glyncollen Primary School in the musical evening which they presented at the Sacred Heart Centre, Morriston.

It was a wonderful evening with the School Choir, Guitars, Dancers and a Musical Play all performing to an audience of very proud mams,dads and other members of the family.  

To end the evening the school choir, our choir and Huw Roberts Joined forces to sing you raise me up, which almost raised the roof.

Congratulations to you all children, it was obvious that you all must have worked very hard to put on such an outstanding performance, and I am sure that Mrs Ann Richards will also be very proud of you all

On Wednesday 4th June, the choir were invited to sing at Morriston Hospital's "Ty Olwen".  We spent a pleasurable hour entertaining patients, relatives and staff who also thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Thanks must go to all the staff for the very warm welcome and hospitality shown to us, and we look forward to our next visit.

On Saturday 31st May 2008 we had the pleasure of performing at the wedding of Vicky and Steven Robinson which took place at the Village Hotel, Swansea.  Congratulations to you both and we wish you health, wealth and happiness in the years to come and my all your troubles be little ones!

 On Friday the 23rd May 2008, the choir were guests of Commodore R.C. (Bob) Hastie C.B.E., RD* R.N.R, our President, who gave a party to celebrate his retirement as Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan.

We performed to an audience of over 400 guests which was followed by a march pass by the Welsh Guards Regimental Band where Commodore Hastie took the Salute.

Our 25th annual concert at Tabernacle Chapel, Morriston on the 17th May 2008 will certainly be one to be remembered.  It was an outstanding evening, thoroughly enjoyed by a capacity audience.  As usual, Hywel Lewis (compare) was in complete control.

The choir were on top form with guest artists Rebecca Evans (soprano), Rhys Meirion (tenor), along with our very own Huw Roberts (bass baritone) with young David Williams on the drums, and Huw Tregelles Williams on the organ.  The audience were ecstatic, and showed their appreciation with applause that must have been heard along Woodfield Street.

On Friday 16th of May2008, the choir were invited to sing at the inauguration of our chairman, Gareth Sulliavn as The Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of the City and County of Swansea.  Congratulations Gareth and we wish you all the very best of luck in your year of office.

 Thanks to Leominster Lions Club, the Macmillan Renton Appeal are getting closer to reaching their target in providing a new 3.5 million cancer treatment unit at Hereford County Hospital.  This was the result of the proceeds from the concert they organised at Leominster Priory Church on Saturday 10th May 2008, when we the Choir, Leominster Junior School Choir and Huw Roberts (soloist) all gave of our services free of charge. With Glyn Williams as our musical Director, Hywel Evans accompanist and Hywel Lewis compere, we performed to a warm, responsive capacity audience, culminating with a standing ovation.

On Friday 25th April 08, the choir braved the Irish Sea for a three day concert tour in Waterford, I am pleased to announce that everyone arrived safely and in good spirit.  Our abode for the weekend was  Dooley's Hotel, where we were treated like Lords, including a civic visit from the Mayor of Waterford Clr. Mary O'Halloran, when she and our deputy chairman Seiriol Evans exchanged gifts.

                 

After a quiet relaxing evening, it was early to bed in readiness for a busy Saturday, which started  with a lunch time performance at the Book Centre followed by the evening concert in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford in company with the Royal Irish Academy of Music Chamber Orchestra, and the Rhocesi Octet.

Following the concert we were guests at a reception organised in our honour by our hosts "Arts Wave Ireland", when our Deputy Chairman presented the Artswave Director, Dee Jacques with a commerorative plate.

  

   Another early night for us all, then after breakfast we were off to Kilkenny for the day before catching our ferry home.

Saint Samlet Church, Llansamlet, the venue of our concert on Friday11th April 2008. When the choir along with Trallwyn Primary School choir ably supported by Clare Mainwaring (Clarinet) and Huw Roberts (Bass) performed to a capacity audience, who judging by their response thoroughly enjoyed the evenings entertainment. Full marks to the children of Trallwyn Primary School who stole the show with their outstanding performance.  The compere for the evening was Rev. Chris Darvill, Vicar of Saint Samlet Church.

On Saturday 5th of April 2008, the Choir had the honor and pleasure of performing to the members of the RASC/ RCT retired senior NCOS Club, at their  Annual Dinner which this year was held at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Llansamlet.

It was an excellent evening which an audience of 95 ex-service men and their partners thoroughly enjoyed.  Brigadier Tony Dickson O.B.E. in  his vote of thanks congratulated the choir on an outstanding performance, and Lt Col Byrne made a presentation of a plaque to which the choir responded.

We the choir would like to congratulate ex RSM David O'Bee for the way that he organized the evening, "In true military style" and to express our thanks to all present for the very warm welcome that we received.

Even the extremely bad weather failed to deter a large appreciative and responsive audience at Tabernacle Chapel, Morriston, on the 29th February 2008.  When the choir along with Morriston Ladies and Cwmrhdyceirw  Junior School choirs, with soprano Angharad Rees and Huw Roberts  (Bass) joined forces in a St David's Day Celebration, the proceeds of which this year will be donated to the British Diabetic Association.

The week before Christmas the choir was invited by one of our main sponsors the Principality Building Society to visit  the Morriston branch and sing a few carols for the customers and passing public.  We spent an enjoyable hour which I am sure was also enjoyed by all the public who joined us. 

  

   

             A great time was had by all, some of us came to sing but others were too busy eating the mince pies

On Sunday 16th December, 2007, the choir, for the twelfth time teamed up with the Salvation Army, Swansea Citadel, to perform in the annual Civic Carol services at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.  During the evening performance, a cheque for £2,776. 00 was presented to Councillor Susan Waller, Lord Mayor of the City and County of Swansea, in aid of her charities which are the RNLI, Mumbles, and Crossroads. They performed to capacity audiences in afternoon and evening concerts and judging by their very enthusiastic response they enjoyed every minute of them.

Malmesbury Abbey: Saturday 17th November 2007 

Where the choir performed to a capacity Audience, who were treated to an evening of musical excellence, and who showed their appreciation with loud applause culminating to a standing ovation!  The guest artistes were, soloist Penelope Davies and the Malmesbury School, Wind Quartet who also gave outstanding performances to a resounding applause.

Very Little Time For Rest !!!

Only two days after returning from a very successful seven day tour of Spain, where the choir performed two concerts, the first in Fuengirola the second in Nerja, they were off to St David's Hall, Cardiff to take part in the Wales Festival of Remembrance concert. 

 Along with the band of the Welsh Guards and guest artistes Kate Wolveridge and Roy Hudd O.B.E.  Wyn Calvin was the compere and it was an evening thoroughly enjoyed by yet another capacity audience.

St Mary's Church Ross On Wye

The venue of our concert on Saturday 15th of September 2007,  when along with the Ross On Wye town band and soloists Jennifer Walker and  Huw Roberts,  we entertained a capacity audience to a feast of music. It was an evening to remember and the standing ovation and the applause during the performance was positive evidence that everyone present thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  The compere for the evening was baritone Robert Harwood, who stood in at very short notice, congratulations Bob on a job very well done.

The choir along with ten other choirs all members of the Association of Welsh Male Choirs in company with  the National Youth Brass Band of Wales, who were celebrating their Silver Jubilee, spent an enjoyable afternoon on the 8th July 07, performing to a capacity audience at the Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff.

The venue of our concert on Saturday 9th June 2007 It was an outstanding evening, when the choir along with Côr Ysgol Lôn Las, with musical director Gareth Davies ably assisted by  Enfys Lewis,  Rhiân Morrissi (Harpist) and the Gower Brass Ensemble with their musical director C.Brian Buckley,  performed to a very warm, appreciative and responsive audience.

We had a new addition to our musical team for the evening, along with musical director D. Huw Rees and Glyn Williams deputy musical director, Mrs. Gloria Lloyd who accompanied us on the piano.  Congratulations Gloria, and thank you for an outstanding performance.  The Compere for the evening was Mr. David Gwyn John.

On Saturday 21st April 2007 at 7.0pm, the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea came alive with an outstanding concert in aid of Tourette Syndrome (UK) Association.

An audience of over 1,000 persons were treated to an evening of excellence. With Garry Owen at the helm the evening  went like clockwork.  Everyone gave 110% performance.  Our thoughts were with Rebecca Evans who due to illness was unable to attend, and we wish her a speedy recovery.  A very big thank you must be extended to Fflur Wyn, who stood in for Rebecca at very short notice, and whose performance was outstanding.

 Together with our choir, were the Canta Youth Choir, Neal Davies (baritone) Fflur Wyn (soprano) and guest organist Huw Tregelles Williams O.B.E., and our very own musical director D. Huw Rees, and accompanist Hywel Evans.

Young Local Talent the Highlight of the Evening

Another outstanding concert at Carmel Chapel on Friday 16th February 2007, when a warm and appreciative audience were treated to an evening of musical delight.

The contribution of Ania Davies (soloist) and the string quartet "No strings attached"  was something really special, and they are to be congratulated for being so talented at such a young and age, which would not have been achieved without a lot of hard work.

The proceeds of the concert will go towards St Mary's Church funds, Clydach.

The Maxillo-facial Department at Morriston Hospital will be receiving the proceeds of this year's Saint David's Day Concert which was held at Tabernacle Chapel on the 9th March 2007.

Together with Cor Merched Treforys and the debut appearance of St Joseph,s R.C. Primary School Choir, we performed to very warm and responsive audience.  Along with the contribution of guest soloist Garry Anderson, the evening was a great success and enjoyed by all.

One Thousand, nine hundred and two persons were mesmerised with the outstanding performance at the Mellennium Centre, Cardiff on Sunday 14th January 2007.  The choir along with six other Welsh choirs performed to a capacity audience in a gala concert in aid of the "Teenage Cancer Trust", when everyone involved gave of their services free of charge.  The Musical Director was Dr Haydn James with Rebecca Evans (soprano), Wayne Evans (tenor) and Eddie Wade (baritone) with a guest appearance of Dafydd Iwan. Jeffrey Howard piano, Timothy Morgan organ and with Frank Lincoln as compere the evening was an outstanding success.
